GBLC ST Rich Rogers swears in Futures Committee members on May 4

 After several months of planning by the GBLC Executive Board, and the election of Allison Doherty-LaCasse as Futures chair and Exec. Board representative at the April meeting, the GBLC Futures Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday May 4, 2010, after the delegates' meeting.  Scott Bezzini, GBLC Futures Vice Chair, also helped run the meeting.  Pizza and soda were served.

The committee includes over 15 members from several different affiliated unions, including Painters' DC 35, the BTU, UFCW 1445, IATSE Local 11, 1199/SEIU, SEIU Local 509, IBEW Locals 2222 and 1505, and APWU Local 100.

At the meeting, the committee members were sworn in as delegates by GBLC ST Rich Rogers, and they discussed their own past experience, the challenges and opportunities of engaging young union members in organizations, and the logistics of future meetings.
