Dear Representative,
The Greater Boston Labor Council is seeking your assistance in a matter of
the utmost importance to organized labor.
You may be aware that the State Senate passed an amendment that would
increase the threshold for application of the Pacheco Bill from $200,000 to
$2 million. If this amendment survives the House-Senate conference committee
it would eviscerate the protections against profiteering and exploitation of
workers that lead to the passage of the law in 1993.
We are particularly troubled that such a major change in state policy would
be considered without a public hearing and an opportunity for working people
to speak about our concerns. We urge you to contact Ways and Means Chair
Charles Murphy, and other members of the budget conference committee, to
assure that this anti-worker amendment does not survive the conference
committee.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
