About The Greater Boston Labor Council

Who We Are

The Greater Boston Labor Council is a federation of over 150 local unions and district councils. We represent unions in the Boston area, from right in the heart of Boston, Somerville, and Dorchester to as far North as Woburn and as far West as Lincoln and Weston.  Our affiliated unions represent workers across a wide economic spectrum. Teachers, transit workers, construction workers, police, firefighters, janitors and manufacturing workers are among the vast array of occupations held by members of the Greater Boston Labor Council.

Every day the council acts as a leading voice for our member unions and workers, fighting for organized labor's legislative initiatives at the city, state and federal levels, vetting political candidates, and raising awareness of labor positions through actions and in the press.

Additionally, the Greater Boston Labor Council holds several events throughout the year to bring together labor leaders with community and political stakeholders and encourage the sharing of ideas and cooperation around common goals. We also support new and ongoing organizing efforts around the Greater Boston area and show solidarity for all of our member unions at rallies and actions.
