At a rally on Thursday, July 22, Teamsters and other union members from Boston and around New England gathered to protest Dunkin Donuts' treatment of its drivers.

 Union activists rallied at the State House and attended a Senate hearing on June 8 to show their support for casino gambling legislation.

 The Council is doing all that it can to prevent layoffs of the city's library workers and school custodians.

 At the GBLC delegates' meeting on Tuesday, June 1, the Council passed a resolution condemning the anti-immigration law, SB 1070, that was recently passed in Arizona.

After a protracted four-year battle, the Firefighters' contract dispute with the City of Boston came to an end on Wednesday, June 9.

 The newly formed GBLC Futures Committee, led by Allison Doherty-LaCasse, held its first meeting after the GBLC delegates' meeting on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.

On the morning of Monday, May 3, 2010, Boston area union leaders met with State Senators Pat Jehlen and Cynthia Creem.  The GBLC plans to hold coffee chats with House leaders in the Fall.

 After a lobby day on March 31 that saw over 1,500 union members swarm Beacon Hill to demand the jobs that casinos will deliver, the house passed expanded gaming legislation by a vote of 120 - 37 on the night of April 14.

A new study released by The Construction Institute shows the total economic impact of construction union earnings on the economy of Massachusetts amounted to $4.6 billion in 2007.

On March 24, more than 200 union activists gathered to tell Bank of America to stop giving handouts to its executives and start investing in good jobs.  To see video, click here.
