On the morning of Thursday, February 2, 2010, Boston area union leaders met with State Senators Sonia Chang-Diaz and Ken Donnelly.  The next coffee chat is in the process of being scheduled.

 The UFCW's master agreement with New England Stop and Shops, which covers over 40,000 workers, expired on February 21.  The GBLC is encouraging its members to get involved in their campaign.

On Friday, January 29, 2010 over 1,000 supporters including a large contingent of unionists attended a fundraiser held at Florian Hall for the family of Jerry Leary. Brother Leary, the Vice-President of IBEW Local 2222 and a GBLC board member, passed away in December after a valiant fight against cancer.

Sandy Felder, who serves as the Regional Director of the AFL- CIO for the Northeast region, was appointed Acting Field Director this week.

AFGE Local 2617, which represents Transportation Security Officers at Logan Airport, are fighting for their members' rights; that fight that included a successful press conference on Friday, January 8th.  

 On Tuesday, December 15th, members of UFCW Local 1445 who were employed by Angelica Textile in Somerville ratified a new agreement, ending a four-day strike.

As the fight over an education bill in the state house that eviscerates collective bargaining rights intensified, ST Rogers wrote a letter to MA House members urging them to protect teachers and school workers.  Click below to read the letter.

Teamsters' Union Local 25 organized a rally on the morning of Tuesday, November 24, to show their support for the workers of DPI-Mid Atlantic, the distributor for Starbucks in New England.
